Thornhollow Valley
Stone barns, beech woodland and a valley floor that holds the morning mist.
Thornhollow is a farmed valley of about nine kilometres with a stream at the bottom and beech on the shoulders. The buildings are stone, roofed in slate, and were nearly all agricultural until the 1990s.
Conversions here succeed or fail on one decision: whether the new work is honest about being new. The barns that read well have a clear line between the stone and whatever was added.
